ResearchCompleted ProjectsSpecial Report on Road Transport and the Environment of the German Advisory Council on the Environment – Conclusions and Recommendations Handlungsempfehlungen zum SRU–Gutachten „Umwelt und Straßenverkehr“ (UBA Vorhaben 206 45 128) In July 2005 the German Advisory Council on the Environment presented its Special Report on Road Transport and the Environment. An important result of this report is that the environmental impacts of road transport are still unacceptably high. The report analyses the status quo and develops recommendations for improving the situation. The task of this project was to evaluate these recommendations from today’s perspective and to define future steps for reducing the environmental effects of road transportation. Out of the broad range of issues the Special Report on Road Transport and the Environment has dealt with this project set a focus on infrastructure planning and the advancement of appraisal methods in this field. A paper was prepared and an expert workshop was organized. The results are published in the series UBA-Texte
