International and interdisciplinary networks represent a central aspect of mobil.TUM.

Such networking is a central instrument for the development of a sustainable mobility and transport research and the basic prerequisite to accomplish multidisciplinarity. mobil.TUM coordinates the following networks and activities:

Cosmobilities (www.cosmobilities.net)

The Cosmobilities Network (www.cosmobilities.net) is a young network that is funded by the German Research Association (DFG). Founded in 2004, it now connects more than 300 European scientists working in the field of social science based mobility and transport research. It is a lively environment for intellectual and academic exchange. As a multidisciplinary network, it represents state of the art research on different aspects of social, physical, cultural and virtual mobilities.
The Cosmobilities Network fosters mobility research as a key discipline in the modernization of European societies under the conditions of globalization and global complexity.
The www.cosmobilities.net website serves as an information platform. It supports scientific exchange and meeting each other in virtual or real space. The website is also a cooperation tool. Members of the network cooperate by using network tools such as moodle to develop joint projects and applications.
Beyond the communication between the members, the cosmobilities network continuously organizes common workshops, conferences, publications, and projects. The network stimulates the development of common research projects and publications.

NECTAR (http://www.nectar-eu.org/)

NECTAR is a scientific European network. It is a new association with a network culture which has been developed within the framework of a European Science Foundation Network
NECTAR is a European-based scientific association. The primary objective is to foster research collaboration and exchange of information between experts in the field of transport, communication and mobility from all European countries and the rest of the world.
NECTAR is concerned with transport and communication issues. These are closely connected with all aspects of spatial behaviour of individuals, groups and governments.
NECTAR is a multidisciplinary social science network. It brings together a wide variety of perspectives on transport and communication problems, as well as their impacts on society in an international perspective.

Andreas Rau (mobil.TUM) and Gebhard Wulfhorst (department of urban structure and transport planning) chair the NECTAR cluster on accessibility.
