Sustainable Mobility in the Metropolitan Region of Munich –
Title of the PhD project:
Beginning July 1st, 2012, there will be one doctoral scholarship to be awarded within the framework of the Hans Böckler Foundation and the TU München’s mobil.TUM doctoral programme named as ‘mobil.LAB’. The scholarship will be awarded for a maximum period of three years. The task of the PhD-project is to advance methods for quantifying environmental effects in transportation and their integration into the Multi-Agent Transport Simulation MATSim (http://www.matsim.org/) with a focus on air pollutant emissions and dispersion modeling, greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption. Candidates should have a master's degree or diploma in natural or engineering sciences with special expertise in air pollutant emissions and dispersion modeling. Candidates should be interested in transportation; programming skills in Java are useful. The scholarship is part of the Hans Böckler Foundation and the TU München’s mobil.TUM doctoral programme named as ‘mobil.LAB’. Awarding of the scholarship will be decided according to the guidelines of the BMBF and the selection and funding criteria of the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung after a preselection by the TUM supervisors. Applicants must demonstrate an above average final degree standing as well as social commitment within trade unions and/or in social organizations. The application procedure consists of two steps.
